AI-driven automation for alternative investment operations

Client:

The investment arm of a US-based global insurance company.

Challenge:

Scaling growth efficiently

The client manages a diversified portfolio under its asset management division, with significant exposure to alternative investments such as private equity, real estate, and energy assets. A wide range of operational events — from capital calls and fee outflows to dividend declarations and fund performance updates — had to be captured and processed quickly to update the client’s investment dashboard, which was relied upon by fund managers for critical decision-making.

However, the client’s existing model was manual and time intensive. Notices often arrived in bulk at quarter-end, creating a rush to meet deadlines. Processing these events manually meant a turnaround time of T+3, which stakeholders found unacceptable given the demand for real-time updates. Status tracking was also inefficient, with manual updates frequently delayed, leaving fund managers without timely visibility.

As the client planned to scale its investments, the manual model posed serious risks to efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

Solution:

eClerx designed and implemented an AI-based end-to-end notice automation solution to modernize and scale the client’s alternative investment operations.

The solution began with the digitization of clauses in Private Placement Memorandums, giving fund managers an analytical view of their commitments. An automated workflow was introduced to source and download notices, while AI models read, validated, and entered the data directly into client systems. Exceptions were flagged automatically, with predictive analytics enabling proactive follow-ups on missing notices.

To provide transparency, real-time dashboards were deployed, offering stakeholders live visibility into processing status. This eliminated delays in updates and gave both operations teams and fund managers confidence in the accuracy and timeliness of information. The solution not only streamlined existing operations but also ensured scalability to handle future growth.

Results:

  • Turnaround time reduced from T+3 to real-time, enabling faster investment decisions
  • Status visibility improved, with dashboards providing live updates
  • SLA adherence achieved even during peak cycles
  • Manual intervention reduced by 80%, freeing operations capacity
  • Accuracy improved from 95% to 99.99%
  • Highly scalable model replacing manual, non-scalable processes

By automating notice processing with AI, eClerx enabled the client to improve accuracy, efficiency, and scalability — empowering fund managers with timely insights for smarter, faster investment decisions.
